We would like to remember Jos Bell, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday 18 September 2024 at Princess Royal Hospital. Jos made an invaluable contribution to our campaign to save Lewisham Hospital between 2012 and 2013. At just 68, she has left us too soon, having bravely battled health challenges for many years. Our deepest sympathies go to her sons, Alex and Dom, as well as to her grandchildren, family, and friends.
Jos’s work for the Save Lewisham Hospital Campaign in 2012-13 was remarkable. She worked closely with Vicky Penner on our stunning press campaign, building strong relationships with journalists such as with Ros at the Mirror. Her persuasive skills brought David Owen to the Lewisham People’s Commission, and she organised the impactful “Stand Up” rap by Question with the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS choir in support of our cause. These are just a few examples of her tireless work; her contributions were many and varied.
During the 10th anniversary celebration of our Victory over the Government and Jeremy Hunt last year, many of us fondly remembered Jos. She was a central figure in our movement, and her family should feel immensely proud of her vital role in saving our hospital.
We hold Jos in the highest regard, cherishing the memories of all we achieved together. She will be greatly missed and always remembered with love and respect.
